About me and breast cancer

In July 2008 I was diagnosed with Breast cancer. I went through a series of test, painful biopsies and was scared to death! I didn't have anyone to talk to that had been through this.

I did 6 months of chemo and am so glad that it is over with now. My last treatment was on March 25th, 2009. I hope I never have to go through that again!! I felt so tired and nauseated all the time. I didn't feel like going anywhere or having company over. I felt like I had no control over what was going on with me.

I have finished all of my chemo treatments now and my hair is starting to grow back already!! Yea!! It is still really short, (June 1st, 2009) but looks like it is coming in curly again and ALOT thicher than it was before.

I have finished 22 radiation treatments now as of May 29th, 2009. My skin is really red and burned from below my left breast, across my left shoulder and up my neck on the left side. I have a very bad rash on that side that itches all the time now. They are giving me some cream to put on it and told me that I can also use corn starch on it to help with the rash. My muscles and skin feel so tight on that side and it hurts to stretch my left arm out now. I still have no strength in my left arm and not much in my right arm either. I have 6 more treatments to go and am looking for all this to be over with soon. I am just looking forward to getting all of this done and over with and remaining cancer free!!

I decided to add this page to my website, just to let everyone know. If there is anyone out there that is going through the same thing, or have a loved one that is, you are more than welcome to email me. If you just want someone to talk to or if if you have any questions, I will answer them as best as I can.

It is best to email me and I will answer it ASAP. With all the doctor's appts. and bloodwork, I am in and out alot but check my emails 1 or 2 times a day. When I am home, I stay outside as much as I can if I am feeling OK. I am a very outdoorsy person and love spending time with my dogs and horses.

I will keep this page updated as I go through my treatments.

Please keep me and my family in your prayers.

It was so scary when I found out that I would be losing my hair. It waited until the day after Christmas before coming out in big handfuls. My mother said that God wanted me to have a good Christmas. The next day, a close friend of mine came to my house and shaved my head for me. The first time I looked in the mirror at my head, I cried. Then my friend, Kathy cried with me.

We started trying on the wigs and the new hats I had gotten and we both felt much better and had so much fun.

Here is a great website for anyone going through hairloss for any medical reasons. They are a non-profit organization and will send you a "Hat Package" for free. They are all volunteers and work only on donations. They only ask that people that are not going through some kind of medical hair loss, to please not take advantage of the free hats. (You know some people are always wanting something for free and it only hurts the people that really need it).

So, if you are needing hats due to medical hair loss or would like to send a donation to them you can visit
